fingerprint jewellery

FAQ

Q. Is your jewellery handcrafted?

A. Yes, all our jewellery is made by hand, and every piece is individual. It is made from pure silver (999), unlike sterling silver (925) which has 75 parts of other metals in it.

Q. Do you sell via other websites or supply other companies selling fingerprint jewellery items?

A. No, we do not supply other companies or websites. The only shop we sell via is our own 'AcisGifts' online shop. All images on our site are of jewellery actually made by ourselves.

Q. How do we provide the fingerprint?

A. We send out a kit with instructions for use. There will be enough to make at least two fingerprints, and we will choose the best one to use. The better the print supplied the better the finished fingerprint. Check the prints before returning, if you need another kit please contact us - though there will be a fee for additional kits.

Kits and all postage is included in the price. The jewellery will be sent by special delivery postage. Additional kits will incur a fee including relevant postage.

We can provide a more personal service for those living in the Chester area, where you can come along a supply the fingerprint in person, by prior arrangement.

Babies under 1 year do not produce the best of fingerprints due to their age and stage of development. Though you can still get a finger impression that can be a lovely keepsake.

Q. How long does it take before I received it?

A. From the time we receive the fingerprint back to dispatch is between 14-21 days. During Bank Holidays and Christmas it may be longer.

*If it has to go for hallmarking this will incur additional time outside of our control - though we will make every endevour to achieve the 14-21 days, we cannot promise to meet it.

Q. Can stones or wording be added to the fingerprint jewellery?
We can add small Cubic Zirconica or Real faceted stones - depending on your requirements and size of piece. We cannot add a stone bigger than 2mm in size due to the thickness of the fingerprint. If you do want a 3mm stone then please contact us for details of a special order with a thicker fingerprint piece - this may have to be hallmarked depending on weight.
Real stones do incur an extra cost, but this is an option in the shop section.

Wording is limited due to size of the chosen shape and is normally handwritten. Details are in the shop section.
If their are any problems fitting the lettering in with the shape chosen (e.g one long word) then we will contact you before commencing the order. We prefer the maximum 12 letter option on reverse to be at least 2 separate words, as the wording cannot be directly at the back of the fingerprint itself. Any queries regarding your requirements please contact us prior to ordering.

Q. Can I use my own handwriting?

A. Yes. Please select the option and send us a scanned b/w image of your wording (keeping to the limit in the chosen option). We will use this to copy your writing onto the piece of jewellery. Please make sure it is easy for us to read, and do not use joined up letters.

Q. Is your fingerprint jewellery hallmarked?

A. All jewellery that weighs less than 7.78g of silver will not be hallmarked, as we try to keep our prices reasonable. Items that weigh more than 7.78g of silver will be hallmarked in accordance with hallmarking regulations but the cost will be included in the price quoted.

If you require your items under this weight to be hallmarked, we can do this but it will increase the cost by £25.00 for one item - this can be reduced for multiple items as postage to the assay office will remain the same.We have our own hallmark registered with the Assay Office.

Or for an additional £10 we can stamp 999 on the rear (this is not a complete hallmark just a statement of it being 99.9% silver). Please note this will reduce the amount of space for any lettering on the reverse.

*It normally takes an additional 7-10 days for the hallmarking process.

Q. Is a high polish included?

A. All our items have a high polished rear side.

The front of the items are offered in a high polish or satin look finish.

Q. How do I look after pure silver jewellery?

A. Because pure silver is softer than sterling silver, it can mark easier, so it is best to remove after wearing and keep separately from your other items of jewellery. We do not make keyrings for this very reason - as they knock against your keys and after a time get damaged.

A good quality jeweller's silver cloth will remove any tarnish or chemicals you have been applying to your skin or clothes. So it is a good idea to give them a quick wipe when you take your jewellery off. If you do not have one to hand, gently wash under the tap with warm water then using a soft piece of kitchen roll gently rub over - this is better than nothing to remove the oils and chemicals.

We don't realise that the oils, perfumes and even soaps we use can affect our jewellery, causing it to discolour, so to keep your jewellery looking good it is best to clean it regularly. Keep it separate, even if just in a little plastic bag, within your jewellery box. This doesn't only apply to pure silver, but also to other jewellery that has delicate stones like pearls. Don't keep them in a bag that contains gold or silver thread as this can scratch the surface.
